What Are Some Examples of Stories to Relate To?

Life is abundant with examples of things that you can use in stories. My father was a storyteller and he would do that by just using things that he saw in his week or around the shop to tell stories. And I learned also from a Nigerian priest that became very, very close to me. He would do it because when he spoke normally, people couldn't understand a word that he said. So he started telling stories about things slowly, about things that people would observe around greater Atlanta, Georgia. Those people could relate to it then and then he became easier to understand.
