The Special Types of Pulsars

Pulsars are highly magnetized rapidly rotating neutron stars that beam radiation out of their magnetic axes. As they spin around, there's these sort of lighthouses on this. And so when the beam sweeps across our line of sight, if the geometry of the orientation is right, then we'll see sort of a pulsating signal as that neutron star rotates. They only appear to pulse. But outside of just normal pulsars, there's a special class called millisecond pulsars. These rotate at millisecond rotational rates. So it's really an experiment that comes with a ton of benefits on the side.
