The Carrier Bag Theory in Thrust

I think I can see the carrier bag in many of your books, but it's very explicitly in thrust. And I wanted to ask about what it means that one of the main characters in thrust is literally a carrier and how is this carrier connected to the carrier bag theory. The novel thrust is a polyvocal novel. So there's not a main character. There are groups of characters and they each get pieces or bits of story. This character Lysvet, who is called a carrier, is a figure who moves meanings around and suggests they might change.
