One UC Berkeley professor was able to trick chat GPT to write a piece of code to check if someone would be a good scientist based on their race and gender. Rival programs from Google and Meta are in development as well. Even if imperfect at this point, the tech is here; it's easy to imagine it falling into the hands of a bad actor.
