Commenting Is a Primary Way in Which We Communicate

Commenting was a primary way in which we engaged with each other until half of a young lifetime ago. The most represented part of the distribution of comments and opinions is going to be the big bell in the middle. In the comment section, what's rewarded is the fringiest ends of the distribution. And so we're seeing something happening here that feels almost unnatural in terms of human interaction.
