i grew up in shawnee. Next door was tecumsa. We're in poterwatermy county, right? Somandall is a placer ria. Scoge is a place i know. The places of my childhood had this completely different realm of story and song and spirit. I wonder about that. Why they retained the place names when all the stories and the meanings were removed for people growing up there who were not tribal. And so, i feel like i'm learning about the place i came from in a way i've longed to but was certainly not offered to me in her official education.
