This is o'toole's attempt at taking side of the increasingly radical portion of his voter base who support the truckers. Even donald trump supporting them in a statement. The truckers became a part of the american culture war against mandates. Is this sort of a good example of the internationalist nationalism that were seen quite commonly among the far right of recent? I would argue that the American coverage of this issue made it dramatically larger than it would have been otherwise.
