The Importance of Compassion in Parenting Children With Autism

I think this is one of the most important messages that, you know, I want to share with people is that it is actually really hard. The messages that we get from society about what parenting should be like are not the experiences that we have as parents of kids with autism. We're making different kinds of choices where other people just wash their kids' hair and don't think anything of it. So I think part of the thing is just recognizing that we make different choices and that's okay.
