The Problem With America's Culture
There's this idea that a lot of young and now apparently middle-aged intellectuals and ideologues think because they get a little taste of popularity that really this is some sort of mass movement. And I just don't think there's any evidence in the political science literature and the polling literature and the voting, there's just no evidence for it whatsoever. America has an actual culture. We have a very different culture from Canada, you know, which is much more deferential to the state. It makes the whole thing sort of why are we talking about this? Because it's just fantasy to a certain extent.
