How to Treat Acute Mountain Sickness
AMS, which is by far the most common form that we see, can often be treated conservatively. Acetazolamide acts both to stimulate respiration and then is also a mild diuretic. Exomethizone or steroids is the other thing that we use to do similarly. Chronic mountain sickness affects about five to 10% of people potentially who live at very high altitudes for the entirety of their lives.
