How Do You Know When You're in the Studio?

I had them all pretty much all written before I went to Mac DeMarco's home studio. We did about a song, maybe like two or three songs a day of the basic backing tracks. So we didn't need a lot of takes. They kind of locked in after a couple of run throughs. But you know, you have to have them pretty well figured out before you go into a situation like that. Otherwise you'll waste time and you won't get anything done.
