Sometimes the profusus may not have a lot of volume left in reservoir with which to return to the patient. If the heart looks under fill, there's a couple of things that can be done here. The reason we do this is that if something goes bad, or in the event of a catastrophic protomene reaction, you can actuall get on back on bypatt quite quickly. Never, ever, ever give protomine before insuring that both the profusenist and the ittending surgeon has heard and given you the ok.
