The Pavitz's Sinking
The Pavitz was rescued by the Royal Navy from an oil tanker in a storm. A local UK newspaper would run headlines at the heroic rescue and report that the ship ended up on the sea floor. The IOPC which is a multi-government funded compensation scheme for shipping accidents like this looked into this and they concluded that the owner of the Pavitz sent a quote to the Indian Coast Guard, leading to the safety alert being removed. It makes you realise how little we know about what's going on at sea nobody seemed to know what was going on with this ship so everyone just stops looking for it.
