How to Be a Successful Filmmaker
I think every filmmaker has a different process. And what I try to do is use the thing that works for me. The peculiar magic of cinema is based on its combination of subjective experience, like a novel. You can be in the first person but also have this empathetic response you share with the rest of the audience. That's what makes film unique. There's no other form. It isn't putting people in the spot and saying what work that didn't work. But there's a magical process whereby you'll watch the film through that person's eyes very much - it shows you you're filming a different way.
