The Power of Humility

When my kids were little, it was so common, at least among the moms that I knew, to experience Sean and Freud around parenting issues. Well, and also this notion of humility. When we see someone suffer, we want to distance ourselves from the experience that the sufferer is having. We feel this sense of self-righteous justification that that fate has spared us presumably because we believe we deserve to be spared.
