There was a lawsuit brought by someone who was fired after he raised concerns about the research and development that was going on. Concerns were also raised by engineers from the Marine Technology Society over the experimental approach adopted by Ocean Gates. The real problem as his death is a temperature because water temperature is 33 degree or something like that. If you are in the sub and nothing is running anymore, making some eat after a while, you die because of the cold.
