John Maynard Keynes argued that in principle capitalism or at least industrialization would be wonderful because it would take all these boring jobs factory. But of course, a crucial limitation on freedom comes from lack of money. To be over dependent on interlinked technology on the global scale is very risky. And so those are the sorts of downsides I worry about, not the machine becoming Terminator.
