Is the Church Infected With Nice for Sayers?
I was really interested in the way that theater provides a kind of community that as you point out, the church really doesn't for her. Well, and both Lord Peter whimsy and Harriet Vane have fined community in places other than the church, right? Yes. I think for Sayers, the church was not as strongly rooted in doctrine as she wanted. And so when she looked at theater and she saw, okay, everybody's coming together in their commitment to this play. She's like, this is what we should be doing in the church.
