Is Immigration a Big Issue?
I think some of that is due to the fact that there are areas in the rural Midwest where the presence of immigrants that are ethnically quite different is very salient. And also the immigration system, there's all sorts of problems with that, although they're different than they were 20 years ago. But what about the idea that the institutions that the broader framework that is required for these societies to flourish are eroded by say like a flood of low-skilled immigration? What do you think about that sort of argument? Because I think that’s kind of partly what Garrett is pointing to.
