I remember reading through the papers that you published during your PhD. Right now we're kind of in this phase of just take words throw them into a stack of transformer decoders and sort of let it do its thing. And during the time you were working on this stuff back then, you had to much more explicitly encode things that maybe mapped onto like the structure of grammar for example. I'm curious if anything during your PhD and this work sort of influenced your commitments about the nature of language and how we represent it in computation.
