When people use the term Mardi Gras, they're not just referring to one specific day. They usually are referring to the two-week timeframe leading up to Mardigras. A few years later, in present-day Mobile, Alabama, there was a bigger party where masks were used and feasts took place. It's all because of a French-Canadian explorer named Pierre Le Moine De Berview on March 3rd, 1699.
