The port of los angeles has seen a big drop in business since the introduction of trade tariffs three years ago. Since then, retail sales have gone through the roof and demand for container shipping is up 50%. The terminals are operating at about 95 % of land usage; full capacity is 80% utilization. And to day we've got 26 container vessels at anchor outside that breakwater, destined for both the ports of long beach and los angeles,. It's about half of what it was at its worst point back in february.
