You get a lot of laughs and entertainment along the way, but you never finish the novel smiling. I think some of his humor is is a form of anas anaesthetic of materialist horrors. And at wit it's almost like a dark, bastardized buddhism, right? Like, live in the moment, but the moment is bereft of all, ah, light and divineness,. So what's the best of the moment as zex, smoking alcohol?! You knowt his stories are tragic, no matter how many, how much humor you encounter along the way.
