The Ultimately Real Is a Practical, Scientific Idea
We can use a practical, scientific way of going about things to improve our lives. But at the same time we can have the sense of the wonder of the world. And they're two sides of the same story of closure and openness. They're not in opposition. I think if we give up on the ultimately real, the idea that we might finally get there, i think the ultimately real is a scientific vers of god. God had the characteristic that it was ineffable. You couldn't really ever know god. The religious story is somehow where we're trying to make sense of it, but we can never arrive.
