The Medium Is the Message
There's so much of him to soak in posthumously. There's a really fun recording of Buckminster Fuller, Marshall McLuhan and W.H. Auden on a panel together discussing television. One of my favorite bits from that is Auden says he's a playwright. He says, I don't have a television. I wouldn't dream of having one. Marshall says, well, you merely suffer the consequences without enjoying any of the benefits. You still live today where our society is ruled by the smartphone. To live in a smartphone world. That's why the medium is the message.
