The Snow Wife

Miss McKenzie started the 100 mile trip with a famished dog team after 30 miles. She fastened the harness around her own waist and continued 10 miles. Then one baby fell ill and died. She wrapped a blanket around the tiny body placed it deep in the snow. Out of the twigs of a pine tree fashioned a pitiful little cross which was placed over the spot. On her arrival food was hurried to her husband but it was but he was dead and she became the snow widow.
