The word, darkening, as a noun fits with what I feel as I follow William Burke and William Hare down from 10 Surgeon Square to the grass market. They've made a fair exchange. A spare dead body. A man who was apparently friendless and owed money. Now they have more money in their pockets than they've seen in months. And they want more. Let's get them right.
