Paying Reparations for the Native Americans?
I'm prepared to think quite a lot. And it strikes me as totally legitimate to think about paying reparations as a possible remedy here. In listening to people like john mc warder and coleman hughes discuss this topic, i'm inclined to think that reparation is probably unworkable as a policy. But the truth is, i'm genuinely unsure about this. Whatever we decide about the specific burdens of the past, we have to ask, how much of current wealth and equal is due to existing racism and to existing policies that make it harder for black families to build wealth? And the only way to get answers to those questions is to have a dispassionate discussion about facts...
