The author doesn't feel like they have to tell you what you're supposed to take out of the story. The child's going to take what he or she is ready for at that particular reading. A good book, I think, has an abundance of good ideas in it, not just one. We can probably talk about books for a good long while. So yeah. But I like your three points on what you look for in a picture book.
