The Importance of Understanding in Language Models
The terms to cast and parrot was actually kind of made famous for appearing in a paper that was done by, I guess, a formal, former Google employee. In no sense process the meaning and these machines act as if they understand the meaning of questions and even answers. We're just not used to understanding advanced forms of intelligence is other than ourselves. And we have to get used to the fact that there's a spectrum of things.
