Willful Blindness Is One of the Barriers to Understanding Other People

There are many things that other people might be thinking about us that we don't want to know. At relatively low levels, this may be highly functional. We often do a getting acquainted exercise with students where we ask them what superpower they would like. And sooner or later, one student always says the ability to read other people's minds is the worst thing that could happen to us.
