The Legacy of Queen Isabelle

The Treaty of Granada was signed 12 years before Isabelle's death. It ended Islamic rule in Iberia, but granted Muslims a set of rights which included religious tolerance. She saw herself first and foremost as a defender of the faith, that is Roman Catholicism. Not all of these stipulations were followed by Ferdinand who would undermine what she had asked for to secure power.
