The Mars Insight Lander Is Getting a Power Boost From Mars Dust
The insight lander has figured out a way to get a power boost. It's covered in martian dust, and it has learned a new way to clean itself. The team behind the lander wanted to see if they could get a few extra days with their instruments by clearing dust away from the solar panels. They used the scoop on the inside botic arm to pour a bit of sand on to the solar panels so that the wind blew the bigger, chunkier sand across them. This worked, boosting the power on the insight.
