The Misogynist Setting of Dracula
I've almost missed exactly how misogynist the setup is because I like them as a couple. Jonathan just loves her so much and would you know let his soul be dragged to hell if she became a vampire because he doesn't want to do without her. It's interesting that Lucy is staked with a sort of a you know with a stake which is a very phallic object but Dracula is he knifed at the end. He both he gets a stroke cut on his step yeah and it sort of almost minimizes that the sort of the phallicness of the of the staking in a way my student was saying.
