The Royal Society at its beginning was mostly folly and a little bit of luck, but you do mention some of the folly episodes. I don't know if there are any that you want to hash. An unusual stone on earth, an astonishing sight of a meteor shower, strange animals,. all this kind of things would show up and so would very rigorous things. The great polymathic Robert Hook as the curator of experiments. And one of his jobs was to do some experiment at regular intervals to both explore new ideas, but also to show members through what it was to do science.
