This year marks 50 years since Australia opened diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China. The world and China are both very different, says Labour leader Pauline Albanese. Relations came at a pivotal time for China - something that is keenly remembered by the Chinese leadership today. We cannot afford to limp along with men whose attitudes are rooted in the slogans of the 1950s, the slogans of fear and hate," she adds.
