The Origins of Greek Science
Greek culture was so incredibly important in the development of science in the West. The Greeks created a vibrant intellectual life which spread around the Mediterranean and would go on to greatly influence the Romans and by extension, all of the Western world. As Babylonian science was a consequence of the powerful state funding their astronomical endeavours, Greek science grew out of their intellectual interests. It can be argued that Greek astronomy has its roots in these earlier traditions.
