Lufth says he became aware of the scheme through his work representing the Chinese energy company C E F C. That's the company that reportedly paid Hunter Biden and the president's brother James $4.8 million in a failed effort to establish a Chinese run liquid natural gas port in Louisiana. Lufth was also charged with arms trafficking, which prosecutors say he acted as a middleman to help Chinese companies buy weapons. The House Oversight Committee chair is still hoping to get Lufth in front of his panel, which has uncovered a maze of more than 20 shell companies for foreign entities.
