The outer sphere is designed to rotate up to four revolutions per second. We've run that fast in the past when it was filled with water. So we did about three years of water experiments before then emptying it and drying it carefully and filling it with a metallic sodium. And then we can compare the things we see in the metallic sodium to what we see in water just to compare what happens When you have a liquid conductor and the rotating turbulence there relative to water, which is actually a very poor conductor.
