How to Detach From Negative Thoughts

Cognitive diffusion is the difference between having a thought and choosing a thought. This allows us to step out of our thoughts and ask ourself about it deeper. When we experience this, we are fusing ourselves to whatever thought pops up in our head. So if I think, today's gonna be a bad day, and I believe it without question, then I am practicing cognitive fusion.
