The Power of Film and Diplomacy
I wouldn't call him an activist, but he is definitely involved on the issues. He was part of the Hollywood New Wave, the films that came out in the 70s. Having to do with more independent thinking and substance of thinking than you often see today or at other times in American movie history. That's the power of not only our soft power, which you say we'll talk about, but also of film itself. It touches you on a deeper level than any speech can. And if you combine it with diplomacy, you can be extremely impactful.
