i firmly believe you should always give it a fair shot and try and get with it. Some companies that, for example, hiring for u x writers, they will actively try to avoid pwriters or former copywriters. So i definitely think former copywriters can be great u x writers if they take on the other set of skills that is needed for that discipline. But more about u x writing later.
