Most American families are, in one way or another, somewhat racially complicated. My stepfather was black so i was exposed to people from a lot of different backgrounds. But i don't think that that is, in america all that unusual. It's relaxing into your own privilege without even thinking about it. And that, again, is one of the privileges of being white, right? Is that you can coast through your experience. You coast through your life without having to think about what your race means to other people and what your existence in a community means to the people around you....
