Before you watch a film or TV show, it's worth checking online reviews or summaries to help prepare yourself. If you know an outline of the plot in advance, that can help you to understand the whole thing because sometimes when you're watching in another language, it can be hard to understand the plot. Try as much as you can to enjoy watching things in English. And hopefully the rest of it will just sort of come naturally as long as the motivation is there to keep going.
