The Importance of Sufism

Sadra: God knows everything because all existence is immediately present to him, and knowledge is nothing other than presence. Sadra describes the things around us as veils for the divine, since they distract us from God. In knowing those things we are bringing them to a higher level of existence that is closer to God by making them intelligible in ourselves. The mystic enjoys the purest, most exalted form of knowledge, but this isn't the only kind of knowledge there is.
