The Allies in the First World War

It seems like, to some degree, anyhow, the first world war happened, not because of simmering ancient hatreds, but because of alliances. And i don't know what's more frightening to you, our friends or our enemies, our alliances or our redFirst World War was caused by multiple major powers fighting each other in the worst war that the world had ever experienced. So when people were doing the post mortem, literally after that, they were trying to untangle all the various causes,. and the alliance system was given as one of the main potential players in this. You can make the same argument about preventing war, until it doesn't.
