The Evolution of the UCs' Proposal for Race in California

In 1996, California voters banned affirmative action in state hiring promotion and admissions process. Steve Saler says SAT scores are a good proxy for race at upscale and downscale schools that track with affluence. The latest evolution is just to get more explicit about it because they had hoped to overturn Prop 209 last cycle but lost by an even larger margin than the original ban.
