The Importance of Dialect Collapse

In Bible translation, there tends to be some type of dialect collapse. In certain contexts, you even have people creating a new dialect that combines different dialects. The ancient Greeks did this kind of thing with their writing in Greece. There's other ways that that kind of thing can happen where it's not so much combining dialects but using an older language for modern purposes.
