The Relationship Between Capitalism and Slavery

Stefan Heblick and Joachim Voth talk about the link between capitalism and slavery. They say it's controversial for political reasons, because of a huge dark stain on transition to self-sustaining growth. Britain started planting its own Caribbean islands in the early 1600s. Between 1701 and 1807 British ships are estimated to have carried over 2.5 million slave Africans.
