How Much Knowledge Has Been Lost in Agriculture?

In nature, herds of animals have been chased around by predators before humans started hunting down a lot of the large prey and diminishing the populations so much that their natural behavior changed. So these animals have always been moving around to a new spot constantly because the weak animals are left behind. And I don't know if that's coincidence or not, but that's coincidentally very good for the soil as you get disturbance in the soil which helps keep the manure there. In Norway, we have about six months of the year where we can graze the animals out on pasture and then we have like six and in some cases seven months where we have to feed them hay.
